If you are updating from a previous version of PrintToPDF, a bit of care is needed to work around bugs in Apple’s desktop printing software.
• First, go to the Chooser and select any printer driver other than PrintToPDF.
• Then move the new version of PrintToPDF to the Extensions folder, replacing the old one.
• Then restart your Mac.
After the computer has restarted, you can go back to the Chooser and select PrintToPDF.
If you’re wondering what happens if you don’t follow this procedure, I have seen two kinds of symptoms:
1. Multiple printer icons appearing on the desktop.
2. Finder showing error messages complaining about an error of type -110.
If you still have problems in spite of all precautions, see Apple’s troubleshooting note on desktop printing, <http://til.info.apple.com/techinfo.nsf/artnum/n24306>.
